I couldn’t let the mango season in the northern hemisphere slip away without me sharing the chocolate dipped mangoes. Chocolate-dipped mangoes, featuring slices of juicy, succulent mangoes enveloped in a rich and decadent dark chocolate, are a celebration of the season’s bounty, offering a delightful treat that is both visually stunning and irresistibly delicious.
Update: Mango season is in full glory now Down Under, enjoying the best chocolate mangoes recipe in the sweltering heat. The mango wedges dipped in chocolate are match made in heaven, the best snack ever and we don’t stop at one.
Why are mangoes so addictive, asked my son innocently one day after he smashed three mangoes in one sitting. The fragrance, the juicy mango cheeks, the flavour, the vibrant colour and for me sucking on the seed till every spec of the flesh is gone is pure HEAVEN. Takes me back to my childhood memories when everyone in the family had their eyes on the seed. Growing up in India, the country with whopping 1500 varieties there is every reason to love mangoes. The Kensington Pride variety down under is my current favourite! This chocolate coated recipe occurred to me while I was having a piece of vegan dark chocolate alongside my son who was enjoying his favourite fruit, mango ofc. We both said ‘this is so delicious’ at the same time and then he goes, would mango dipped in chocolate be good? That was when the chocolate coated mango recipe was born in my house only to realise it is a popular snack. Duh!! Living under a rock moment.
Chocolate Coated Mangoes
The day I recorded the chocolate mango recipe video, I was so eager that it had to be done there and then. With one overripe mango in the house and dark chocolate (a pantry staple) I just went for it. So pardon the irregular look mango slices! A firm mango of your favourite variety is recommended.

Easy Chocolate Coated Mangoes Recipe
Equipment
- A medium tray (metal, plastic or glass) lined with parchment paper
- Sharpknife for peeling and slicing mangoes
Ingredients
- 170 g good quality dark chocolate
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 large firm mangoes
- 2 tbsp crushed pistachio
Instructions
Step1: Prepare the Mangoes
- Wash and peel the mangoes with a sharp knife.
- Cut the mango cheeks into thick long wedges, approximately 1/2 inch thick. Ensure the slices are thick enough to hold their shape. If too thin, they may break during the coating process.
- Stick a skewer into each wedge.
- Place the mango slices on a tray lined with parchment paper.
- Put them in the freezer while you prepare the melted chocolate. This will help with the chocolate coating process.
Step2: Melt the Chocolate
- Break the chocolate into small pieces and place them along with coconut oil in a heatproof bowl.
- Use a double boiler to melt the chocolate while stirring until fully melted. Alternatively, you can melt it in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth.
Step3: Coat the Mango Wedges
- Partially dip each mango slice into the melted chocolate. The longer you dip in melted chocolate, the thicker the coating.
- Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing the coated slice back onto the parchment-lined tray.
- Immediately sprinkle with chopped pistachios or any add-in while the chocolate is still moist.
- Repeat the process for all mango wedges.
